7/25/2009 - Wounded Warrior Resiliency and Support Workshop - Saturday July 25, 2009, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm at Windhorse Farm in Hilton, New York.
This is a one day workshop focusing on identification of challenges, goal-setting and exploring positive life style changes. It looks at issues of isolation, distrust, and emotional difficulties that veterans may be experiencing and assists in strengthening of resources and support. Components of this workshop include Equine Assisted Learning which utilizes horses as a tool for emotional growth and learning in humans. All activities take place on the ground. No horse experience is necessary. After exercises with the horses, there is time for reflecting on the experience, processing through group discussion and peer support and looking at applying what was discovered at home and on the job.

Community members are invited to go to Grossmans Garden & Home, 1801 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, Penfield, NY on December 4 and December 5 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to choose and purchase a tree to be sent to a military family. Those who purchase a trees will have the opportunity to add a note to accompany the tree, and the option to include their email address on a special tag to enable the military family to send a note or photos with their tree. 10/25/2011 - 12/9/2011 - FLU SHOTS FOR VETERANS - CANANDAIGUA VA MEDICAL CENTER AND ROCHESTER VA OUTPATIENT CLINIC
The Canandaigua VA Medical Center will provide flu shots to Veterans on Fridays from 9 -12 a.m.
& 1- 3 p.m. Flu Shots will be available by appointment only. Veterans are asked to call their VA Primary Care Provider or the Specialty Care Clinic at 585-393-7293 to schedule an appointment. The Flu Shot Clinic will be held in the Building 5 Auditorium.
The Canandaigua VA Medical Center is located at 400 Fort Hill Avenue Canandaigua, NY.
Flu Shots will also be available by appointment only at the Rochester VA Outpatient Clinic:
• Tuesdays - 9 - 11 a.m. & 1 - 3 pm
• Thursdays - 1 pm - 3pm
• Fridays - 9 - 11 am & 1- 3 pm
Please call your VA Primary Care Provider or the Rochester VA Outpatient at (585) 463-2757 to schedule a flu shot.
The Rochester VA Outpatient is located at 465 Westfall Road, Rochester, NY 14620.
Flu Shots are also available at scheduled primary care appointments.

2/21/2014 - 5/14/2010 - SportsNet Adapted Sports EXPO - SportsNet’s EXPOS are designed to enable veterans to spend time exploring a variety of adapative sports. Held at the Al Sigl Gymnasium, 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY, EXPOS offer mini-arenas of Wheelchair Basketball, Sled Hockey, Adapted Cycling, Outrigger Canoeing, Golf, and Power Wheelchair Soccer. Veterans are assisted in assessing their ability to use the adaptive equipment and are guided by skilled Therapeutic Recreation staff and volunteers in basic maneuvers of the sports. The event is free and is a great way for veterans and their friends and family members to learn about what is available in the Rochester area!
