1/25/2010 - 4/8/2010 - Free Fitness Training at Nazareth College - Cape Ability Outrigger Ohana, Inc. and Nazareth College Physical Therapy Department are teaming up to provide a free aerobic and weight training program for people with physical disabilities. The winter program will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm at Nazareth College. Particpants must obtain their physician's approval pior to joining the program.

2/4/2010 - 2/3/2011 - Vets4Vets Peer Support Group Meetings - THURSDAY EVENINGS, 6:00-7:00PM. Vets4Vets is a non-partisan veteran organization dedicated to helping Iraq and Afghanistan-era veterans feel good about themselves and heal from any negative aspects of service and war through the use of peer support.
Meetings held every other Thursday at Veterans Outreach Center, 447 South Avenue, Rochester.
2/8/2010 - 3/31/2010 - OASIS Adaptive Sports Winter Program Event Launch - On February 8th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. OASIS Adaptive Sports will kick off the inaugural year of their program with a launch event for their winter program. The event will take place in the Sunset Lodge at Bristol Mountain, and all 5 veterans who will receive instruction in the winter program will be in attendance. Most of the OASIS board, Rochester VA key leaders, Bristol Mountain administrators, adaptive ski instructors, OASIS donors / supporters and some local officials and politicians will be in attendance. 3/16/2010 - Free Clergy Day Workshop - On Tuesday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Help Base Greater Rochester is holding an informational seminar to educate clergy of all faiths and religious backgrounds about the effects and issues military families face throughout the deployment cycle. The seminar will provide practical information to help clergy and congregations better meet the special needs of military families. Featured topics include: How Congregations Can Help Military Families, Overall Issues Service Men and Women and Their Families Encounter, Operation Enduring & Iraqi Freedom: Impact on Service Members & Families, and Community Resources Available to Help Military Families Cope with Issues and Changes. This half day workshop includes a free working lunch. Advance registration is required. Registration Deadline is March 9, 2010.
The mission of Help Base Greater Rochester is to enhance services by coordinating, mobilizing, and educating the community-at-large about the issues facing veterans, service members, and their families and advocating for the necessary services to ensure that these community members can regain and maintain their physical, emotional, and economic well-being.

3/25/2010 - 3/26/2010 - Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), A Two Day Training for Treating PTSD - This two day workshop is being offered by the Institute for Disaster Mental Health at SUNY New Paltz and is being webcast live to the Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross, 50 Prince Street, Rochester, NY 14607, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day The training location is handicapped accessible and American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting is available upon request. The $175 registration fee includes continental breakfast and lunch on both days. Registration deadline is March 17, 2010.

9/18/2010 - 14th Annual Rochester River Challenge Outrigger Canoe Sprint Races - A Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project Event and an inclusive paddle sports event (400-meter sprint races)for people of all ages and abilities provided by Cape Ability Outrigger Ohana, a chapter of Disabled Sports USA. Event begins at 8:45 am with the Blessing of the Canoes.
The race venue located at 149 Elmwood Ave, behind the Genesee Valley Complex. Event is open to people of all ages and abilities. No prior experience is necessary; a steersperson and all equipment are provided. PRE-REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY.
2/21/2014 - 5/14/2010 - SportsNet Adapted Sports EXPO - SportsNet’s EXPOS are designed to enable veterans to spend time exploring a variety of adapative sports. Held at the Al Sigl Gymnasium, 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY, EXPOS offer mini-arenas of Wheelchair Basketball, Sled Hockey, Adapted Cycling, Outrigger Canoeing, Golf, and Power Wheelchair Soccer. Veterans are assisted in assessing their ability to use the adaptive equipment and are guided by skilled Therapeutic Recreation staff and volunteers in basic maneuvers of the sports. The event is free and is a great way for veterans and their friends and family members to learn about what is available in the Rochester area!
