It is no secret that the war in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as past wars continue to have a significant impact on servicemembers, their families, and the community at large. Although, we have some knowledge about the issues and problems as a result of the war that will have to be addressed as a community, we don’t yet fully understand the challenges we will be facing. What we do know for certain is that veterans, servicemembers, and their families have been heavily impacted by the deployment and redeployment back to the war zone. They face many challenges in a wide array of areas including mental/emotional, legal, financial, employment, housing, healthcare, education, and others. In order to help address these challenges, we need to come together as a community. This is an effort to serve those who serve us. |
